Sequence responsible for silencing the superoxide dismutase gene leading to the death of the psyllid
Superoxide Dismutase is critical for the survival of Diaphorina Citri. Without this gene, the potentially harmful oxygen molecules will not be broken down and thus will kill the psyllid carrying the disease responsible for citrus greening. In our project we put Superoxide Dismutase into our cassettes so that when the psyllid absorbs the SOD siRNA and die. Decreasing the amount of psyllids will decrease the spread of citrus greening.
